Doug's Dreaded Black Salsa
Submitted by: ChefDoug   Member Profile

one is not for the faint of heart. This salsa is best suited for being made on the back yard grill. The last time I made this I cleared out an entire kitchen with the smoke. I would recommend wearing a dust mask and goggles to make this one. The results are really tasty.

Ingredients:

You will need: a grill, a cast iron skillet, tongs, a dust mask and goggles

1 cup of Hot Pepper Seeds
1 Onion (peeled and quartered)
2 cloves Garlic (peeled)
2 Tomatoes (Quartered
2 Red Peppers (stemmed and de-seeded)
Salt to taste

Directions:

On medium grill heat up cast iron skillet
Pour in seeds and agitate every few minutes
Grill the rest of the ingredients
Continue agitating the seeds Until they start getting dark
Remove items when they are charred on all sides
When the seeds are the color of coffee remove from heat
Let items cool
Puree all items in a blender for 5 minutes
Strain solids out
Salt to taste
